As I mentioned in the previous post the Louvre is a journey back in time. Indeed this magnificent museum transports us to times as distinct as distant.

Each collection has its own identity and soul, which provokes the most different sensations and emotions. Art is what distinguishes Man from other animals. We create for the purpose of the beautiful, the adoration, the magnificent, the divine.

And no doubt the Louvre has works of art that allow us to contemplate the divine.

Entering the Louvre through the Transparent Pyramid, we easily find the main escalators leading into the interior of the museum itself.

Before embarking on this journey through the art world, I advise you to go to one of the large reception desks and collect one of the pamphlets containing the map and general information about the location of the collections and main works. It is easier to plan the route and enjoy the visit better. These brochures are available in several languages.

Then, for the visit to be more comfortable, the Louvre offers lockers where our belongings can be placed free of charge. The size of the lockers is generous allowing multiple items to be placed simultaneously. They also have a special place to put a large umbrella. Note that only lockers that are open should be used. As I did not know, I stood there forcing empty lockers, but closed, until a friendly tourist explained to me. Once you find a locker available, just put the log in there and enter a code of your choice on the dashboard. The lock closes, and can only be reopened by introducing the code we have defined.

Lighter and more informed, we can then proceed.

Upon entering the first room we soon find the majestic Italian sculptures. They are an appanage of perfection. Elegant, tall, sublime and detailed. The natural light from the glazed roof illuminates them magically. The various artists have managed to capture the human essence in such a way that they almost seem alive to us.

The collection of sculptures comprises the period that dates from the middle ages until the mid-nineteenth century.

We find several stools along the galleries where we can rest and appreciate a sculpture that has captivated us more.

I sat down several times, absorbing all the beauty that surrounded me.

In the French sculptures we also find several busts and other representations of diverse historical personalities, but not only.

It is worthwhile to walk slowly through the galleries and individually enjoy each of the sculptures. I highlight among others: "The death of Dido", "Molière", "Júlio Cesár", "Perseus and Andrómeda".

We can feast on impressive sculptures of angels, biblical characters, emperors, mythological figures, animals, various representations of princesses and kings, of deaths, of writers and other notable.

It is an overdose of art and beauty.

Como já referi no post anterior o Louvre é uma viagem no tempo. Realmente este magnífico museu transporta-nos para épocas tão distintas como distantes.

Cada coleção tem a sua própria identidade e alma, que nos provoca as mais diferentes sensações e emoções. A arte é o que distingue o Homem dos outros animais. Criamos pelo propósito do belo, da adoração, do magnífico, do divino.

E sem dúvida que o Louvre tem obras de arte que nos permitem contemplar o divino.

Entrando no Louvre pela Pirâmide Transparente deparamo-nos facilmente com as escadas rolantes principais de acesso ao interior propriamente dito do museu.

Aconselho antes de embarcar nesta viagem pelo mundo da arte a dirigir-se a um dos grandes balcões de atendimento e recolher um dos panfletos que contem o mapa e informações gerais sobre a localização das coleções e principais obras. É mais fácil de planear o percurso e apreciar melhor a visita. Estas brochuras estão disponíveis nas mais diversas línguas.

Depois, para que a visita seja mais confortável, o Louvre disponibiliza cacifos onde podem ser colocados de forma gratuita os nossos pertences. O tamanho dos cacifos é generoso o que permite colocar vários itens em simultâneo. Também dispõem de um local especial para colocar guarda-chuva de grande dimensão. De notar que apenas devem ser utilizados os cacifos que estão abertos. Como eu não sabia, fiquei ali a forçar cacifos vazios, mas fechados, até que uma simpática turista me explicou. Depois de encontrar um cacifo disponível é só colocar a tralha lá dentro e introduzir um código à escolha no painel. O cacifo fecha, e só pode ser reaberto mediante introdução do código por nós definido.

Ao entrar na primeira sala encontramos logo as majestosas esculturas italianas. São um apanágio de perfeição. Elegantes, altas, sublimes e detalhadas. A luz natural proveniente do telhado envidraçado ilumina-as de forma mágica. Os diversos artistas conseguiram captar de tal forma a essência humana que quase nos parecem vivas.

O acervo de esculturas compreende o período que data desde a idade média até meados do século XIX.

Encontramos vários banquinhos ao longo das galerias onde podemos descansar e apreciar melhor uma escultura que nos tenha cativado mais.

Eu sentei-me diversas vezes, a absorver toda a beleza que me rodeava.

Nas esculturas francesas encontramos também diversos bustos e outras representações de diversas personalidades históricas, mas não só.

Vale a pena percorrer lentamente as galerias e apreciar individualmente cada uma das esculturas. Destaco entre outras: “A morte de Dido”, “Molière”, “Júlio Cesár”, “Perseus e Andrómeda”.

Podemos deleitar-nos com impressionantes esculturas de anjos, personagens bíblicas, imperadores, figuras mitológicas, animais, diversas representações de princesas e reis, de mortes, de escritores e outros notáveis.

É uma overdose de arte e beleza.
